AlgiSys is a biotechnology company that uses microalgae to produce EPA omega-3 and plant protein ingredients, replacing fish and krill as the primary source of these nutrients.
The company uses patented and proprietary fermentation-based technology to make its products for the aquaculture, pet, animal feed, supplement, food & beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries.
AlgiSys provides environmentally sustainable alternatives to fish and krill-based products using scalable and cost-effective production methods.

Aquanzo is a marine protein farming company that challenges the exploitation of the ocean to produce marine ingredients for the aquaculture industry. This is achievable by farming Zooplankton, the natural super ingredient, industrially on land.
Aquanzo’s mission is to domesticate and farm Artemia as a feed, at low environmental footprint, for optimal fish and shrimp nutrition. Leveraging agricultural by products and state of the art technologies they produce a high value marine protein source, and help make the aquaculture industry more sustainable.
We look forward to welcoming Aquanzo as a Roslin Innovation Centre Member as the company begins to produce products to test with potential partners before scaling to industrial pilot scale.

Easter Bush Campus is one of a network of five hubs in the Data-Driven Innovation Programme (DDI). The project will seek to leverage existing world-class research institutes and commercialisation facilities to make Easter Bush a global location of Agritech sector excellence through the deployment of a campus-wide network that will generate and collate local and global data.
Ingenza Ltd, a spin-out from the University of Edinburgh founded in 2002, and has an integrated teams of scientists, bringing together expertise that combines molecular biology, biocatalysis, and computational design into a platform-based approach that enables predictable, scalable, and efficient biomanufacturing.
Ingenza was one of our first tenants, moving in to customised lab and office space at the end of July 2018. Following several years of substantial growth, in May 2025 the company relocated to a new multi-million pound purpose-built facility to allow for further expansion of their operations.
We are delighted that Ingenza remain within Midlothian Science Zone and retain association with Roslin Innovation Centre as a Member company.
Midlothian Science Zone is represented by partners from science, technology and innovation parks; research institutes; academic institutions and tenant companies located 'in the zone' with a focus on animal health, human health, aquaculture and related sectors.
This collaborative One Health community offers access to knowledge and expertise, resources and facilities, new technologies, accommodation and services, business support and networks across the Midlothian region.

N2 Pharmaceuticals Ltd has had a base at Roslin Innovation Centre since 2018.
The company has developed N2-01, a unique injectable medicine extracted from meat of Blue mussels, that has proven in laboratory settings and during its usage on animals, to reduce the level of endothelial dysfunction.
The medicine proved to be effective in numerous conditions when used on more than 25,000 companion and food producing animals by practicing veterinarians. Results of treatment improved recovery, quality of life or as a supportive treatment for cats and dogs and in dairy cattle, the treatment improved the effectiveness of artificial insemination.
N2 Pharmaceuticals is currently working on the compound's registration with the European Medical Agency. The technology has numerous patents in the UK, EU, USA and Russia.

TRACE is a non-profit company that works to develop and apply analytical tools to environmental management and law enforcement.
The company specialise in the promotion of forensic science in wildlife crime investigation; to date TRACE has helped establish national wildlife DNA forensics laboratories in fifteen countries across Africa and Southeast Asia.
TRACE also provide research and analysis services for product traceability, for example in the fisheries and timber sectors, and environmental DNA (eDNA) testing.
Established in 2006, headquartered in Edinburgh, TRACE currently employees sixteen staff in ten countries.
