AlgiSys is a biotechnology company that uses microalgae to produce EPA omega-3 and plant protein ingredients, replacing fish and krill as the primary source of these nutrients. 

The company uses patented and proprietary fermentation-based technology to make its products for the aquaculture, pet, animal feed, supplement, food & beverage, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. 

AlgiSys provides environmentally sustainable alternatives to fish and krill-based products using scalable and cost-effective production methods.

Aquanzo is a marine protein farming company that challenges the exploitation of the ocean to produce marine ingredients for the aquaculture industry. This is achievable by farming Zooplankton, the natural super ingredient, industrially on land. 

Aquanzo’s mission is to domesticate and farm Artemia as a feed, at low environmental footprint, for optimal fish and shrimp nutrition. Leveraging agricultural by products and state of the art technologies they produce a high value marine protein source, and help make the aquaculture industry more sustainable. 

We look forward to welcoming Aquanzo as a Roslin Innovation Centre Member as the company begins to produce products to test with potential partners before scaling to industrial pilot scale.

The City Region Deal is a mechanism for driving productivity and accelerating growth by pulling in significant government investment in innovation, skills and infrastructure. 

Easter Bush Campus is one of a network of five hubs in the Data-Driven Innovation Programme (DDI). The project will seek to leverage existing world-class research institutes and commercialisation facilities to make Easter Bush a global location of Agritech sector excellence through the deployment of a campus-wide network that will generate and collate local and global data.

Clean Water Wave (CWW) blend advanced technology with robust engineering, to transform polluted ground and surface water into clean water, safe for consumption and discharge. 

The product range offers a solution for almost any water treatment and the innovative CAFE System (Clean Aqua For Everyone) works better and provides a more cost-effective than any other technology or system.

CWW is a social enterprise passionate about the environment: profits support low income communities with water issues, and research into oceanic pollution and climate change through Global Oceanic Environmental Survey (GOES).

Cytomos® develops and provides integrated, predictive analytics systems for intelligent bioprocessing in biopharma and cell therapy domains. The team has expertise and experience spanning biology, engineering, product development and project management.

Built upon patented Cytomos® Dielectric Spectroscopy (CDS™) technology, the company's systems are unbiased, have single-cell resolution and are scalable across all upstream production stages. Leveraging the unmatched data depth per cell provided by CDS™, the proprietary machine learning (ML) algorithms provide insights into bioprocesses like never before.

Harbro has been supplying farmers with quality livestock nutrition since 1977, focused on improving animal performance and its customers’ profitability. With a manufacturing capacity of 280,000 tonnes from sites in Scotland and England, the business produces high quality livestock feeds for beef, sheep, dairy, pig and poultry.

As a progressive company known for bringing innovative and technically advanced performance-led nutrition products to market, Harbro is renowned for on-farm nutritional advice and support, working with farmers to achieve sustainable and profitable production. 

We welcome Harbro as a Member at Roslin Innovation Centre. Strong links with universities and research initiatives ensures the business is involved in leading research projects with partners throughout the UK and Europe.

Ingenza Ltd, a spin-out from the University of Edinburgh founded in 2002, and has an integrated teams of scientists, bringing together expertise that combines molecular biology, biocatalysis, and computational design into a platform-based approach that enables predictable, scalable, and efficient biomanufacturing.

Ingenza was one of our first tenants, moving in to customised lab and office space  at the end of July 2018. Following several years of substantial growth, in May 2025 the company relocated to a new multi-million pound purpose-built facility to allow for further expansion of their operations.

We are delighted that Ingenza remain within Midlothian Science Zone and retain association with Roslin Innovation Centre as a Member company.

Midlothian Science Zone is represented by partners from science, technology and innovation parks; research institutes; academic institutions and tenant companies located 'in the zone' with a focus on animal health, human health, aquaculture and related sectors.  

This collaborative One Health community offers access to knowledge and expertise, resources and facilities, new technologies, accommodation and services, business support and networks across the Midlothian region.

Emma McCallum, was appointed project coordinator in October 2021 and is supported by Lesley Parsons who maintains the digital assets. 

The team has a hot desk within our Agri Hub Member area at Roslin Innovation Centre.

MV Diagnostics is a research and development company, focused on the development and provision of innovative immunoassays and reagents for use in clinical and research laboratories worldwide.

MV Diagnostics aims to deliver innovative technical solutions to diagnostic problems and supply high quality veterinary ELISA kits and recombinant proteins/peptides. These kits and testing services have been used in cattle, sheep, goats, alpacas, deer, badgers, wild boar, and a variety of Zoo species.

The company works with collaborators nationally and internationally, using their extensive experience to help resolve challenges in the diagnosis, control and eradication of animal diseases. 

N2 Pharmaceuticals Ltd has had a base at Roslin Innovation Centre since 2018.

The company has developed N2-01, a unique injectable medicine extracted from meat of Blue mussels, that has proven in laboratory settings and during its usage on animals, to reduce the level of endothelial dysfunction.

The medicine proved to be effective in numerous conditions when used on more than 25,000 companion and food producing animals by practicing veterinarians. Results of treatment improved recovery, quality of life or as a supportive treatment for cats and dogs and in dairy cattle, the treatment improved the effectiveness of artificial insemination.

N2 Pharmaceuticals is currently working on the compound's registration with the European Medical Agency. The technology has numerous patents in the UK, EU, USA and Russia.

Northern Light Microscopy is empowering life science labs and companies of all sizes to unlock the bioscience discoveries of tomorrow through their accessible advanced microscopy platforms.

Leveraging 30 years of experience across the team, working at the boundary between optical engineering and the life sciences, NLT are moving advanced microscopy from a niche tool accessible to the most well resourced research companies and institutions, into the hands of many by removing prohibitive barriers in adoption – cost, expertise and time.

A University of Strathclyde spinout in 2024, Northern Light Microscopy is set to change the way bioscience discoveries are being made and plan to release their first system towards the end of 2025.

Paul Dick & Associates Ltd. (Pda) is a full-service global consulting firm specialising in animal health product innovation, business development, and regulatory strategy. 

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Paul Dick, Pda supports a diverse range of clients - from early-stage ventures to multinational companies, innovation clusters, and academic institutions - in advancing animal health products from concept to market. 

Pda provides expert guidance in product development, regulatory affairs, market access, and commercialisation, with specialised expertise in companion animal supplements, Veterinary Health Products, feed additives, pharmaceuticals, biologics, diagnostics, digital health technologies, and other veterinary medical products.

With associates across North America, UK, EU, and Australia, the team delivers customised, globally informed solutions to meet clients' business and technical needs.

In addition to consulting services, Pda plays a leadership role in the industry, organising international symposia, workshops, and strategic forums that promote collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation.

Roslin Foundation was founded in 1995. The Foundation promotes the advancement of education, research and knowledge in agriculture, agricultural related areas, other biological sciences and biotechnology by undertaking scientific research, and disseminating the results of such research, and in the training of research scientists.

The Foundation supports ongoing projects into the research of animal health and welfare at the Roslin Institute and regularly receives and reviews updates on progress to ensure their charitable aims are being met.

Roslin Innovation Centre provides hot desk space for the team and Board Members within our Agri Hub open plan office area. 

TRACE is a non-profit company that works to develop and apply analytical tools to environmental management and law enforcement.  

The company specialise in the promotion of forensic science in wildlife crime investigation; to date TRACE has helped establish national wildlife DNA forensics laboratories in fifteen countries across Africa and Southeast Asia.  

TRACE also provide research and analysis services for product traceability, for example in the fisheries and timber sectors, and environmental DNA (eDNA) testing.  

Established in 2006, headquartered in Edinburgh, TRACE currently employees sixteen staff in ten countries.
